Congratulations and a huge thanks to all who keep the club ticking along.

KOWHAI TRAIL TREE WORK
ECAN have felled a lot of the dangerous wattle trees in the Lower Kowhai. Thanks to club member Will Parsons for the heads up by submitting a messsage about this hazard on the KCC website. This correspondence was in our AGM minutes which were forwarded to ECAN as our Trail Partner. Thanks to ECAN for their prompt response and attention to this.  The trail alongside the golf course has had more root removal work done and is now riding better. Stu Burrows informs us that ECAN have planted Redwoods where the trees were felled last year and these are becoming established.

TRAIL PROPOSALS
At the AGM discussion was held on  the club’s current and proposed projects. These include a Cycling Hub, an asphalted pump track which Council have allocated land for adjacent to the swimming pool, the peninsula Cycle Trail, and extension of the Korimako / Bellbird Trail to try to get off-road access to the Mt Fyffe carpark.

JOE NATION
Congratulations to NZ cyclist Joe Nation who has finished third in the 2023 Tour Divide enduro race from Banff to Mexico. He rode the 4400km journey in 15 days and 3 hours. His link to Kaikoura is that he is a one time KOM (King of the Mountain) of the Kaiterau Trail on Mt Fyffe and is currently ranked 5th on Strava with a time of 39:25.
