  • Hurunui Heartland Ride  204 km multi-day or an epic day ride
Hard Trails
  • Mt Fyffe  51 km return from Kaikoura, 8 km climbing from Mt Fyffe carpark
  • Clarence Reserve  55 km return from Kahatura River to Forbes hut (was Seymour Hut).
  • Okiwi Bay to Halfmoon Bay  21.5 km This trail is currently closed

Loosely following the perimeter of the Kaikoura plains and skirting the Kowhai and Hapuku Rivers, the Kaikoura Trail features trails that are as diverse as the scenery and gives you the chance to explore some of the places that you don’t see from the highway. The Puhi Puhi Valley is a gravel cycle experience that skirts the flanks of the north end of the Seaward Kaikoura range. The climb finishing at Saddle Gate, under the second highest peak in the Seaward Kaikouras, Te Ao Whekere at 2598m.
